About this event
Chester Beatty manuscript CBL W 139 is an exquisite Gospel “frame commentary” in which the Gospel text is positioned in the centre of a page spread and then the annotations are set forth all around it in the top, outside, and bottom margins, like an elaborate picture frame.
This lecture presents examples of frame commentaries and highlights their aesthetic qualities that contribute to the readers’ understanding.
Free talk in the Reference Library or online via Zoom. Registration required.
